Laurelai and the Frog

Today was another gorgeous day and so Laurelai and I spent most of the early afternoon outside in the backyard. We played with play-dough, finger painted, drew with chalk, ate lunch on the patio and ran around. At one point we noticed a little frog on the patio furniture. Laurelai is fascinated with frogs and snakes so she wanted to get an up close and personal look at the little guy. I think she has maybe heard one too many fairy tales because she even wanted to kiss it. Then, out of the blue, the little frog took a grand leap and jumped right on her. You should have heard my girl squeal as she slung that poor little thing off of her. I think the unexpectedness of the jump startled her more than the frog itself. Anyway, once I reassured her everything was OK, she laughed and said, "Mommy that tickled."

Family Portrait

Ok, today I tried to take family pictures for mother's day. Let me just say that when you are the one taking the picture as well as trying to be in the picture, things aren't always as easy as they seem. It took much blood, sweat and tears to get one that I was satisfied with. Jim and I had several laughs looking at all the ones that I took.

This one shows my daughter's sense of humor. We had been posing and saying cheese for about 20 minutes when I gave her a break. When time to shoot again, she came back out with a little grin on her face and sat on Jim's knee. I set the camera, came running over and said smile. She said cheese and right before the timer went off pulled out a piece of string cheese she grabbed from the kitchen and took a bite. I think Jim and I are in for it with this little one. She is way too clever.

Lions, Tigers and Bears Oh My!!!!!!

We had a fun family day today at the Zoo. Laurelai has been talking about going for weeks and we finally were able to make it there. We had so much fun seeing all the animals. She really enjoyed the reptile/spider house (we don't share that same interest), loved seeing the lions taking a nap in the sunshine and seeing the elephants. We also rode the little train and the merry-go-round (over and over and over). The weather was beautiful and so it was a perfect day.




Wow that is one big elephant. Do you think we could take it home and it could sleep under my bed?

Growing and Growing

Fun doesn't even begin to describe the time I am having with my girl. She is such a bundle of life and I really can't remember what my life was like before her. We have had a fun couple of weeks now that spring is really here. We've gone to the park to play, been over to friend's houses and taken every opportunity possible to be outside. Laurelia has definitely come into her own sense of humor and I never know what is going to come out of that kids mouth next. The other day she told me she was thirsty so I asked what she'd like to drink. She said, "Oh, lets go to Starbucks mommy." Laurelai has been watching a show on the Disney Channel (Handy Mandy), on the show there are various tools and they introduce themselves from time to time. We were at the tennis courts the other night and someone asked her what her name was. She smiled really big and said, "Hi, I'm hammer." Well, she's only three and not everything comes out clearly so what it sounded like was, "Hi, I'm hammered."
Laurelai's imagination is also in full swing. We can't pass a group of trees in which she doesn't see a bear or a lion or a giant spider. She's also singing everything she hears. She went to the park the other day with her daddy. While there she met a new friend and they were playing on the swings together. The little girl asked Laurelai if she new any songs. Laurelai started singing "We are the Champions" by Queen. Jim said that the little girl just looked at her like Wooooaaaaa.




Here I am smiling cute amongst some beautiful spring flowers. I don't understand why mommy won't let me pick them all.




Playgrounds are my absolute fav. Here I am coming down the slide for like the 100th time in a row.
